How to best use Personal Branding on Social Media?
If there’s one thing you need to know it’s how to use Personal Branding on social media.
I know that when I started online almost 5 years ago, I thought personal branding was pretty obvious.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that it’s complicated to understand…
It’s just that we get easily caught up in other things.
What is Branding?
Let’s start by clearly defining what Personal Branding actually is.
If you think of a brand, names like Coca Cola, WalMart, Bandaid, Nike or Kleenex come to mind.
Most everyone knows exactly what those are, right?
If I said Nike, you’d know it’s a sports apparel company and they make shoes and clothing for athletes.
Even the Brand names Bandaid or Kleenex are so intertwined in our life, that we use them as object names.
We don’t say can I have a “facial tissue”, we say “can I have a Kleenex” no matter what brand the box.
Same with Bandaids – it’s synonymous with… I don’t even know what those are called!
What is a Personal Brand?
It stands to reason that when we say “personal brand”, we mean something that defines a person.
When we talk about a business or product brand, it means we define that product or business.
It’s to the point that we just say the name and people know what it’s about.
So, a personal brand has the same goal.
We want to get to the point where we say your name and people know what you’re about.
How do we accomplish this?
The first step with clearly defining your personal brand is to understand it’s already defined.
It’s been defined since you were born – ok maybe since your teens.
So, it’s not really about defining it, but rather about embracing it.
When we talk about a personal brand, we are really just taking about a person.
It’s their personality, their values, their interests, their mannerisms… their look and dress.
Translating Personal Brand on social media

In reality, we are the ones who want to be different.
Everyone else just wants us to be ourselves.
As I’m sure you understand now, the simple truth is that the answer to How to best use Personal Branding on Social Media, is simple.
