What is Easiest and Fastest way to record Simple Online Course?

There are really tons of ways to create and online course and in the end you want a high quality course.

Today’s not about a high quality course though and some may tell you it’s not worth doing unless it’s high quality but I beg to differ.

The reason I believe it’s worth doing a “not so good quality course” is the same as any other action you take to get better.

In your online journey to build a business, you’ll have to learn hundreds of new skills.

Why create a low quality course?

That means that part of the reason to create a low quality course is because you can’t possibly create a high quality course when you’re getting started.

In the beginning, you can’t be the better than what you are and if that means a low quality course, that’s what it means.

Sure, you could wait to get better or you could simply hire someone else who can do it better than you.

However, that means you’ll either wait forever or always be paying someone else.

Should you pay someone else to do your course?

Of course, I’m not saying that paying someone else to create your course is the worst idea and in some cases, it’s very lucrative to do so if you can generate the income to pay off the expense.

Some do very well with this approach, but I’m guess if you are reading this, that’s not you.

Perhaps you don’t have the marketing skills to promote it or you just don’t have the funds to hire someone else.

Either way, you can only get better by doing it yourself.

What do I mean by a simple online course?

Now that we’ve determined you agree with the benefits of creating a “not the best” course, let’s talk about what simple means.

What I mean by simple is that we’ll be creating a course that is just a few videos.

Now, you can certainly record each video separately but in this post, we’ll be talking about recording it all in one session to then cut up later.

I actually do it right in the video on this page and record some parts of a course I’m putting together so you can see exactly what I mean.

What do you need to create a simple course?

Before we actually go into recording the videos for the simple online course, let’s get all our ducks in a row.

We need to decide on the following before we get started:

  • What will be the topic of the course?
  • What will be the title of the course?
  • What is the goal of the course for it’s students?
  • What are the questions each lesson is answering in the course?

Other than that, it’s really just deciding what you use to record and this can just be your phone or even using Zoom with your laptop.

You could also clarify these things:

  • Who is your audience and avatar?
  • What are their problems and fears you are going to help them with?
  • What is the result they are looking for that your course gives them?

Those last things would help you by affecting the wording you use, which we call “copy” in the marketing world.

The process is simple too

As you record your video, you’ll want to keep track of where in the video each topic starts.

One way to do that is to clap your hands loudly between each topic so that your editing software shows it in the audio wave view.

The other way, which I use since my video software doesn’t easily show the audio wave is to use a visual marker to identify the start end end of a lesson.

Just think of the movie recordings you’ve surely seen with those clapperboards.

Obviously, you don’t need that, I just raise my hands to make it visual and obvious it’s where to cut.

Of course, you can do it any way you’d like but since you’re recording all the lessons in one video to split up later, you’ll need some way to easily find the sperations.

Conclusion

I know you want to create a high quality course and you’ll surely create one but like anything else, you need practice.

Before you can create a great course, you’ll need to create a good one and before you can create a good one, you’ll need to create a bad one… or maybe a simple one.

The more you do it, the better you’ll get – it’s all about practice as I’m sure you’ve heard that practice makes perfect

Well, maybe never perfect, but definitely better and you’re getting better every day!
