The basics of what all leaders tell you to do on social media, or Facebook, is this:

  1. Post content daily.
  2. Engage on other people’s posts.
  3. Reply to other people’s comments on your posts.
  4. Connect with 5-20 people daily (send PM and friend request) to have conversations.

Each of these activities has a very important reason to be done and is required for other steps to be worth doing.

For example, you must post for other people to comment on your posts so you can actually reply.

Also, you must engage on other people’s posts so that Facebook shows your posts in other people’s news feeds.

The difference with the Reverse Social Prospecting Formula is with step #4, that activity is done AFTER you know that they will actually know you and trust you.

I know, I know, Attraction Marketing is what you are following, it’s what those leaders are teaching.

Don’t get me wrong, I do agree, over enough time, doing those daily actions will get you sales.

Sure, a few will check your profile and will have see your posts and will have a conversation with you, but the vast majority will just ignore you.

For someone to become a Hot Lead, in others words, they are most likely to at least be open to what you have to offer them, they just go through this process:

  1. They see your stuff on Facebook news feed so they now know you exist.
  2. They see your stuff more often in news feed and start to like you.
  3. They see your stuff even more in news feed and they feel they can trust you.

The problem is that we don’t really know where they are in that process normally.

What makes someone go through the different steps to trusting you?

Once thing that is universally true about marketing is that people need to trust you to buy from you.

Their level of trust is sort of like a bucket that fills a little bit every time they are exposed to you.

When I say say “exposed”, I mean they see your stuff, your comment or your face in their notifications.

Imagine that each exposure is a point and you need 30 points for them to trust you.

Of course, all these “points” must be over a common frequency, that means they need to gain that point every few days, not once a year.

As they get more “points”, they will naturally gravitate in their trust for you, but first, they need to know you and like you, like this:

  1. On the first few exposures, they go from not know you exist to knowing you do.
  2. After they know you, each new exposure eventually brings them to liking you.
  3. Once they like you, new exposures eventually bring them to trust you.

It’s not magic, it’s science and psychology. That’s why advertising works.
