How to find the most Active Users in your Group?
It’s pretty easy to see who is in a group or who’s posting today in the group.
What’s not so easy is to find out who is regularly active in the group.
Ok, maybe it’s not that hard to do, but it can be quite complicated to keep track of.
In any case, it is possible and I’m going to show exactly how you can do that in this post.
What is an Active User?
First, let’s make sure we’re on the same page as to what I mean by an Active User.
An Active User might just be defined as someone who is reading the posts in a group.
Unfortunately, we do not have access to that information and although it would be great to know who those users are, it would be hard to engage with them other than posting in groups and hoping they comment in your posts.
So, the next best thing is finding the users who are actually Active on Facebook in general.
When I say Active User, I mean someone who is active in their personal profile and posting public posts.
What groups should you be looking in?
Before explaining the steps to finding Active Users, let’s talk about the groups to look in.
First groups might be ones you actually manage.
As a group owner, you’re going to want to know who is most active and worth your time with.
You might decide to check out their profile posts because they are helping you grow your group as a sort of “thank you for engaging in my group” thing
The next type of group is ones where your target market hangs out.
Say you’re selling a weight loss supplement, you’ll be wanting to find people looking to loose weight.
Be careful to choose engaged groups and not spam groups – the best ones are groups where you have to pay to get in because everyone in there also paid.
Steps to finding the Active Users in Groups
The process is relatively simple and it looks like this:
- Choose the group to find Active Users in
- See who posted
- See who commented on posts
- Go to their profiles (you’ll need to click the “main profile” link)
- Check if they are posting regularly and if their posts are public
- Bonus if they have other social links or web sites in their About info
If they aren’t posting public posts, all you will see if their profile picture and cover photo updates but you can choose to become friends although that’s a different strategy than what I teach.
Finding the Most Active Users in Groups
Now that you know how to find who was active today, you’re not necessarily finding the gold mine of hottest prospects.
To do that, you’ll need to check often and track who posted today, yesterday, the day before, and the day before that, etc…
I’m sure you’ll agree that someone who posts every day in a group is more active than someone who posted only last month and today.
As a matter of fact, if they only post today and you try to message them, friend them or engage on their posts, they will most likely ignore you.
It’s just human nature to ignore those we don’t know, especially on Social Media!
It takes time to truly find the Active Users worth engaging with
The good news is you can find the Active Users if you track it for long enough
The bad news is it will take time because you have to track it for a while.
It’s possible by entering information in a spreadsheet for example, putting rows for users and columns for when they post.
After a while, you’ll have rows with more posts and comments and you’ll know who’s more active from that list.
But, you’ll want to be doing other activities so that when it’s time for you to reach out to them, it’s not the first time they hear from you.
So, how do you do that?
Well, just comment on their posts because that’s what everyone on Facebook wants – engagement on their posts!
Conclusion
Imaging doing all that work all the time – not only will you be spending time on Facebook engaging on posts but you’ll also need to put the information in a sheet because Facebook will not track it for you.
What if there was a better way? There’s a tool that will track all that for you!
I’m actually doing a workshop this weekend Sept 25th, 2022 at 11am eastern time.
If you missed it, check the link anyway as I might do another one or you might be able to get the replay.
