What is the big deal with TikTok?
You probably heard about TikTok a lot over the last 2 months.
More than you’ve heard in the last year I bet.
If you’re a fan of Gary Vaynerchuck (Gary Vee), then you’ve probably heard him talk about it for the last year or more.
So, what is the big deal with TikTok?
Why is TikTok a big deal?
If you still need convincing, here’s a few points according to Wikpedia:
- TikTok is still young, it was launched in 2017 for world markets.
- It has ben downloaded over 800 million times
- TikTok has over 800 million users
- You can much more easily get a viral video as it’s still a new platform
- The platform is hungry for creators as there are much more consumers of content right now
The thing is that any new social media platform is always great to use in it’s early days.
It’s basically getting some land grab.
In the days of pioneers, land would up for grab… imagine having gotten 100 acres when New York city is today?
Getting lots of followers on a platform like TikTok is much the same as that.
All the followers you get and video views you get may turn into new fans.
What is great about TikTok?
There are a number of really great things about TikTok.
First, they allow you to share your videos on other platforms since they watermark them with your userid
Second, their video editing software is amazing. You can stitch together videos from different times of the day, you can add music and sounds, you can add text at different points in the video, you can add transition and visual effects, you can do voice overs and so much much.
Third, they allow you to upload videos from your phone (and now even from PC) to which you can add effects, music and text.
Do you have to do dancing videos?
That’s a great question.
The answer is no, of course not… just like you never had to send naked pictures with Snapchat.
In the end, you do what you want on any social media platform.
Whatever their rules are may end in them deleting your content or banning your account, so it’s all just common sense.
Just remember that the platform dictates the content that they want, in other words what the audience wants.
What does that mean for you?
As the platform matures, it will be harder and harder to get lots of views on your videos.
If you learn TikTok’s algorithms and understand what you audience wants, you can have huge success there.
I’m just an internet marketer who posts boring educational stuff about personal branding, attraction marketing and course income generation which is why I don’t have a million followers, but I have over 500 which is pretty good considering my content.
I’d love to have you as a new follower.
Hope to see you there.
