How to plan your Chat bot conversation for your site?

So you have a web site and you’d like to add a chat bot to it!

Sure, you can use many of the platforms out there but how do you know what your bot should say?

I mean, what’s the process you want it to go through?

How do you know what you should say with it?

What is a chat bot for?

Those are all great questions and it can be overwhelming to figure that out.

The thing you have to remember is that your chat bot is just like any other marketing tool.

It’s a tool to leverage automation to get results, right?

So, how do you use any marketing tool?

When you keep that in mind, it can become easier to figure out what you should have your chat bot say…

How do you know what to ask?

Since we determined that your chat bot is just another marketing automation tool, then it makes sense to start with these marketing questions:

1- What is the goal of the chat bot’s conversation?

2- Who is your audience or avatar?

3- What is your offer?

4- How long after they visit do you want bot to wait?

By answering these 4 questions, you can start to put together the conversation your bot should have.

1- What is the goal of the chat bot’s conversation?

For me, this is the goal:

  • Get them on my list
  • Make them feel like I care about them
  • Come back to blog later

How do I accomplish that?

Start with a question about them.

What are they building an online business for?

How is their business going?

What are they struggling with?

2- Who is your audience or avatar?

My audience is attraction marketers or more specifically:

  • They are online marketers that know about affiliate and network marketing
  • They have been building their biz online for at least 1 year
  • They have a blog (or had one)
  • They understand the value of building an email list

By defining those attributes of your target market, it makes it easier to figure out what to ask them and what to offer them.

3- What is your offer?

This is what you have to offer them, such as freebies to get them on your list or something to sell them.

In my case, I’ll offer them 4 of my freebies I use to get people on my list:

  • Free eBook on the top 10 simple online strategies
  • Free eBook on the 12 critical steps to your online success
  • Free TikTok webinar on how to use the platform with influencer that has 1.7million followers
  • Free online Course Hosting platform

4- How long after they visit do you want bot to wait?

Since bots can be setup to popup based on some actions, we can decide how it pops up.

For me, I figured I’d do this with it:

  • after 30 seconds of browsing
  • If they click the bot button
  • If they are about to leave
